Who this is for

When a commercial EV charger job needs a DNO application

Commercial and workplace charging usually adds enough load to need a formal DNO application (G99), not just a notification (G98). If any of these are true, the job typically needs an application — and that is where installs stall.

Multiple chargers, or rapid / DC units on one site
Workplace, retail, depot or fleet charging
A capacity or maximum-demand question the DNO will ask
G99 / G100 paperwork holding up delivery

Commercial EV charger DNO application — questions installers ask

Do I need a DNO application for commercial EV chargers?

Usually yes. Most commercial or workplace EV-charger installs add enough load that the DNO must be applied to (G99) rather than simply notified (G98). Multiple chargers, rapid/DC units and depot or fleet sites almost always cross the threshold. We identify the likely route for your specific job before any paid work.

Do you submit the application to the DNO for us?

No. PermitGrid prepares and evidence-checks the Connection Pack. Your authorised installer or qualified engineer reviews it, signs where required and submits. We prepare the paperwork; we do not certify the electrical design.

How long does a commercial EV charger DNO application take?

DNO decision timescales are set by the network operator, not by us, and vary by region and job. Our own turnaround is a 48-hour target to produce the reviewed pack once the required evidence is complete, payment has cleared and reviewer capacity is confirmed.

What does it cost?

A single pre-check pack is £495, a full commercial EV pack is £950, and multi-charger, fleet or complex work starts from £1,500. Scope and price are confirmed before any paid work begins.

Which DNO regions do you cover?

All GB distribution network regions — UK Power Networks, National Grid Electricity Distribution, SP Energy Networks, SSEN, Northern Powergrid and Electricity North West.
